In a heartwarming rescue operation, a Siberian Husky was saved from a drifting ice floe in the Sangis River, between Kalix and Haparanda.

The dog, which had escaped from its owners, was spotted by passersby around noon, stranded on an ice floe during ice break-up season.

Rescue services, wearing dry suits, managed to approach the skittish dog, eventually coaxing it to safety with the help of dog treats.

The rescue took about fifteen minutes, after which the dog was safely returned to its grateful owners.

This incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with weak ice during the spring thaw..
