100 Swedish Entities Seek Rest Rule Exemptions

Across Sweden, approximately 100 businesses and organizations have applied for exemptions from the new regulations mandating a minimum of eleven hours of rest per day.

Among the 17 entities already granted such exemptions are helicopter operations, national specialist care, emergency services, and care homes.

The rule change poses challenges for those accustomed to working longer but fewer shifts, including firefighters, healthcare workers, and individuals with long commutes.

Stig Holmberg, responsible for ambulance services in Norrbotten, voiced concern over the urgency of the situation, noting that one in ten employees has resigned in the last six months.
